Snorkeling The South Bight of South Andros
Rarely will you find such a diversity of ocean life and marine geological features all within a ten-minute boat ride – and it’s included in your rate. Both first-time snorklers and seasoned snorkelers thoroughly enjoy their guided trips to our unique snorkel sites to witness the astounding underwater world and it’s marine inhabitants.
The warm and shallow water right off the Tiamo beach is an ideal place for beginners to learn snorkeling and to see the conch, sea cucumbers and huge cushion stars that frequent our shore. A little further offshore are the amazing Blue Holes, immensely deep underwater caverns that are all connected and extend down hundreds of feet. Explored by Jacques Cousteau in the 1970s, they are unique geological treasures that are surrounded by gardens of coral and teeming with a plethora of ocean life. On a typical day, some of the fabulous creatures you might see during a snorkeling adventure include angelfish, stingrays, butterfly fish, barracuda, parrotfish, lobster, huge schools of jacks and French grunts and an occasional nurse shark or sea turtle, all amongst the many colorful sponges, sea fans and soft corals. In addition to having incredible Blue Holes, Andros is also bordered by the world’s third longest barrier reef, one of the last remaining stable reefs in the Western Hemisphere and stretching over 100 miles along the eastern side of the island.
It’s another beautiful day in The Bahamas….and your Nature Concierge Team is waiting to take you to their many favorite snorkeling spots. Make your reservation today.
