The most intimate and private of Bahamian resorts, this 12-acre Caribbean paradise has but eleven beach bungalows, surrounded by 125 acres of naturally preserved wilderness. Guests are pleasantly surprised when they discover that Tiamo is an ecoresort. They never could have imagined how luxurious and comfortable it could be to be to have a shower heated by the sun, or to be cooled by tropical breezes and the whir of a solar-powered ceiling fan.
Green Living is all the rage right now, but we must have been ahead of the curve. Since we opened in 2001, and since we first conceived of opening a Caribbean beach resort in the Bahamas, our sustainable tourism practices have garnered us more press and awards than we ever could have imagined. But we don’t do it for the accolades. Sustainable development is the only responsible way to do business and we practice it in everything we do at Tiamo.
Our guests take ownership of the place while they’re here, because they realize how precious and rare a place like this is to find. And when they return, as many of our guests do, it’s like they’d never left. Many request the same bungalow each time they visit, laying claim to it and making it their home for a week, and sometimes two. Each private bungalow is complete with all the essentials like heavenly king sized beds, soft linens and breezy wrap around porches.
As comfortable and accommodating as your private beach bungalow may be, you won’t find yourselves there much during the day. There is just too much to see, too much to do [or not to do] at Tiamo. The trained biologists that make up your Nature Concierge Team are here to take you on daily trips exploring the abundant natural attractions. Experience the best in Bahamas snorkeling including the tropical underwater landscape of the magnificent off shore blue holes. Navigate crystal clear waters as you kayak or sail on the South Bight. View wild orchids and the endangered Andros rock iguana during a hike through several different ecosystems.
Or simply choose to watch the tide change and reflect on life from a gently swaying hammock. Go for a beach walk, get your toes in the sand and let the warm breeze gently melt your stress away.
As amazing as each day is at Tiamo, evenings are everyone’s favorite. The nightly ritual cocktail hour starts every evening in the main lodge at 6:30, followed by flavorful Caribbean cuisine, colorful conversation and extraordinary fine wines and after dinner liqueurs. Attentive staff warmly welcome you each day with a genuine and friendly smile. With 11 private beach bungalows, there will never be more than 22 guests and with 35 staff members you are pleasantly outnumbered in this high end Caribbean Resort.
